After the Le Shuttle we drove directly through France. First night in Saint Quentin (lovely cafe breakfast pictured above) and second in Mulhouse.
Mulhouse is not a salubrious town and we ended up in some dive of a hotel on the outskirts. It was too cheap and full of dodgy people lurking around the entrance. Our instincts told us not to stay but we had driven too many miles and couldn’t face getting in the car again.
Glad to say our worries were unfounded and we slept well in a very quiet room.
Travelling is about making judgements but not being too scared to live outside your comfort zone. Sure we’ll have many such moments as we get further into our travels. Just a bit of a surprise to feel such caution in rural France.
