Sometimes all the photography skills in the world just don’t matter. The scene is so perfect, the lighting dramatic and the colour breathtaking. So how’s this for the perfect “click and shoot” image on an iPhone – the main Piazza Grande in Gubbio at sunset.
A few miles north east of Perugia, Gubbio is a forgotten mediaeval town well off the main tourist trail. We loved walking around it’s narrow lanes and are lucky enough to have found a charming Airbnb in the historic centre.
This afternoon we took the unique ski-lift of sorts – more a metal basket – up to the top of the snow covered hill behind Gubbio. Great views and it’s on this hill that the “world’s largest Christmas tree” will soon be lit.
