Up Mount Etna

img_7372

The landscape at the top of Mount Etna is extraordinary at this time of year. Bleak and eerily quiet. Lava boulders, hot ash, steam and snow.

We walked round a crater summit that was formed in 2002 by a massive eruption which raised the land by 200 metres.

Lovely to be with our English friends Helen and Roger (another one) who are staying with us in Taormina for the next few days.
