The floating forest

IMG_9674IMG_9679Our lodge was downstream of the Laguna Grande of Cuyabeno Reserve. We took a motorised canoe there and explored the edges, swam (avoiding the Caimans) and enjoyed the sunset in this extraordinary place.

It was a photographers’ heaven. And with the lagoon only existing in the wet season, we were lucky to experience it.

Being here reminds us how precious the natural world is; it needs to be protected and nurtured. Here in the national park we saw evidence that the tourist industry works with the indigenous community to create a sustainable environment. But we fear oil companies elsewhere are destroying so much more.
